By downloading or using Hugathon.me, you agree to these terms. They're written to be straightforward. Please read them.

What Hugathon.me is

Hugathon.me is an anonymous space to share how you're feeling and receive support from strangers. It is not a mental health service, crisis line, or substitute for professional care. If you're in crisis, please contact a helpline in your country.

Who can use the app

You must be 17 or older to use Hugathon.me. By using the app, you confirm that you are.

Your account

Accounts on Hugathon.me are anonymous by design. We generate a username for you — random, unlinked to your identity. You can ask for a different one, but we never ask for your real name and we won't accept it. No email, no phone number, nothing personal required or stored.

You are responsible for keeping your password safe. We cannot recover it — we have no way to reach you, and that's the whole point. If you lose your password, your account is gone. You can always start fresh with a new one.

You can delete your account at any time from the app. If you no longer have access, contact us and we'll remove it within 30 days — provided we can establish together, in a transparent way, that the account is yours. We won't delete an account on someone else's request.

What you can post

Hugathon.me is for sharing genuine emotional experiences. Posts go through moderation before they're visible. You agree not to post:

We use automated moderation to enforce these rules. Posts that don't pass are rejected, not stored. If your post is rejected and you believe it was a mistake, you can reword it and try again.

Anonymous does not mean consequence-free. If you try to expose someone else's personal information — their name, location, workplace, or any other identifying detail — your post will be blocked. Doxing is not tolerated.

Moderation and removal

We reserve the right to remove any post that violates these terms or that we believe is harmful, without notice. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.

Users can report posts they believe violate these terms. We review reports and take action where appropriate.

Mental health and crisis content

People share difficult things here. That's the point. We don't remove posts about sadness, fear, anger, or struggles — these are valid and the app exists for exactly this. However, posts that describe active plans to harm oneself or others may be handled differently. If you're in immediate danger, please contact emergency services.

Post expiry

Posts are automatically deleted after 30 days. The moment passes — the post goes with it. This is intentional. Hugathon.me is not an archive.

Intellectual property

You own the words you post. By posting, you grant Hugathon.me a non-exclusive licence to display your content within the app. We don't claim ownership of your posts and we don't use them for any commercial purpose.

Disclaimers

The app is provided as-is

We do our best to keep Hugathon.me running, but we make no guarantees about uptime, availability, or that it will be free of bugs. Use it knowing it's an independent project, not a commercial platform with SLAs.

We are not liable for user content

We moderate content but cannot review everything instantly. We are not responsible for content posted by other users.

This is not professional advice

Nothing in the app or from other users constitutes medical, psychological, or legal advice. If you need professional support, please seek it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
